The method

What soft washing actually is

Soft washing is exterior cleaning done at low pressure. It exists because a lot of the outside of a building cannot take a high pressure stream. Siding flexes and lets water in behind it, roof shingles lose their surface, fence boards splinter and painted wood loses its finish along with the dirt.

So the pressure comes down and the surface gets cleaned rather than blasted. It is the right method on anything that is layered, coated, painted or lightweight, and it is the difference between an exterior that looks clean and an exterior that looks clean and damaged.

RWB soft washes across New York City, Nassau County and Suffolk County for both houses and commercial property, alongside snow removal, towing, junk removal and power washing on the same number.

Where RWB uses a soft wash

If a pressure washer would leave a mark on it, it gets soft washed instead.

Siding, roofs and fences

Vinyl and painted siding, roof surfaces, fence panels and painted wood. These are the surfaces that pick up green and grey growth on the shaded side of a property and cannot be cleaned with force.

How it fits with power washing

Most properties want both. The driveway, patio and steps take pressure, and the siding and fence around them take a soft wash. Doing them together is why an exterior ends up looking finished rather than patched.

Coverage

Soft washing across NYC and Long Island

Soft washing covers the five boroughs, Nassau County and Suffolk County. Long Island has more siding and fencing per property, and the city has more brick and masonry, so the mix of soft washing and pressure work changes as you move east.

Questions

Soft washing questions

What is the difference between soft washing and power washing?

Pressure. Power washing cleans hard surfaces with a high pressure stream. Soft washing cleans delicate surfaces at low pressure, because force would damage them.

Which surfaces need a soft wash?

Siding, roofs, fences and painted wood. As a rule, anything layered, coated, painted or lightweight is a soft wash rather than a pressure job.

Can you do both on the same property?

Yes, and most properties want both. The driveway, patio and steps take pressure while the siding and fencing take a soft wash.

Do you soft wash commercial buildings?

Yes. Commercial exteriors have the same mix of surfaces as houses do, and the method is chosen the same way.

Do you work on Long Island as well as in the city?

Yes. Soft washing covers all five New York City boroughs plus Nassau County and Suffolk County.
